Official Visit to ECRL Tunjong and Flood Relief Mission by Deputy Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan

Pasir Puteh, 27 DEC – Deputy Minister of Finance, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan made an official visit to ECRL Tunjong, in conjunction for a Flood Aid Distribution Program with representatives of CCC-ECRL and Malaysia Rail Link (MRL) in the form of basic necessities to help assist flood victims in both Kelantan and Terengganu.


Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan and his party first visited the office and living area of Section 1’s camp, as well as the steel bar factory, silo and mixing station, and spoke highly of the branch’s camp construction and working environment. Accompanying the Deputy Minister of Finance on a two-day visit was MRL Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Sri Darwis Abdul Razak, and China Communications Construction (ECRL) Sdn Bhd (CCCECRL) Deputy Project Director & Chief Engineer Deng Bo.


Apart from the inspection, China Communications Construction (ECRL) Sdn Bhd (CCC-ECRL), main contractor and Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL), asset owner of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) Project continued their efforts in Flood Aid Distribution to the flood victims around Malaysia as they handed out donations in several locations in Kelantan namely Machang and Pasir Puteh. In Terengganu, donations where handed out to flood victims at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung La, Hulu Besut and Dewan Telok Kalong Kijal, Kemaman.


In Kelantan, about 70 per cent of the construction work in Sections 1 and 2 of the East Coast Rail Line (ECRL), covering 82km from Tunjong here to Setiu in Terengganu, was affected by floods last week. CCC-ECRL and MRL hope that the donations would help ease the situation suffered by the flood victims. 


Technical Visit To ECRL Genting Tunnel Project Site by Integrated Asset Planning Branch (CPAB), JKR Malaysia

On 22nd December 2022, the Integrated Asset Planning Branch (CPAB) from JKR Malaysia made a technical visit to the Genting Tunnel project site.

A delegation of 39 officers led by JKR’s Integrated Asset Planning Branch Senior Director, Dato’ Ir. Hj Zulkipli Hj Nasri was welcomed and accompanied by MRL’s Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Sri Darwis Abdul Razak, together with MRL’s Head of Construction, Noor Azlan Salleh and Corporate Director of CCC-ECRL Grace Cheng.

The purpose of this technical visit was to provide exposure and a knowledge sharing session to CPAB, JKR officers regarding the best practices of asset and project management in the implementation of mega and complex projects, including construction methods and technologies used in project implementation as well as aspects of mitigation and facility management that are applied once the project is operational.

They were briefed about the project updates, the challenges faced by them during the current monsoon season as well as measures taken place to ensure a steady and on-track progress of the mega project.

The delegation hopes that ECRL achieves its goal in connecting lives and accelerating growth especially within the local community in the state with numerous intangible benefits.

Construction of the 16.4 km Genting Tunnel portion of the ECRL began in May 2022. Once completed, the Genting Tunnel on the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) will serve as a key component for the shortening of travel distance between Bentong and Kuala Lumpur.


Section 7 visit by Deputy Director of Malaysia Land Public Transport Agency (APAD)

Recently, En.Ahmad Radhi Bin Maarof, Deputy Director of the Malaysian Land Public Transport Agency ( APAD), visited the construction site of the Yunding Tunnel and the Sungai Tua No. 1 Tunnel Section 7 of the CCCC Malaysia East Rail Project. The owner, Malaysia Rail Link (MRL), project general manager and relevant personnel from the branch, accompanied the project.

In the workshop meeting room at the exit of Yunding Tunnel, Deputy Director En.Ahmad Radhi Bin Maarof and his party first listened to the work report on the construction progress, key and difficult points of construction, construction technology, safety control and other aspects of Yunding Tunnel, and then conducted a briefing on the construction site.

During the construction process, Section 7 has strictly controlled the progress, quality, safety, environment and other factors, and achieved remarkable results, which was highly affirmed by the Malaysian Land Public Transport Agency (APAD). ECRL Section 7 will continue to strictly control the quality in the follow-up production work, strictly implement the management measures, and provide a strong guarantee for the smooth completion of the project.
